Part of my Me Made June pledge was to wear handmade, thrifted or refashioned clothing for the month. I’ve decided that my Saturdays during this challenge will be reserved for me to show off my thrift store finds. Hence, “Sally Ann Saturdays” (what we call Salvation Army stores here). I took a pledge back in January that I was going to try very, very hard not to purchase any “new” clothing in 2011; I’d make my own or purchase second-hand. So without further ado, I scored this great dress for a scant $4! Hemmed it a bit, and away we go.
Dress – Reitmans via Value Village (thrifted)
Jean Jacket – yet another almost vintage piece; Ricki’s circa 1999
Sandals – Victoria’s Secret
Earrings – Chanel
Bracelet – a beach vendor in Cuba
Hat – another thrift store find!
Places visited: Work, Mum’s house, out for dinner
Main activities: Sitting at a computer, hanging out in the back yard, dinner with family/boyfriend
Number of times I have worn this dress: First time! The best part is, when I bought it a month and a half ago, it was much too snug. Now it fits beautifully! All my healthy eating + 1/2 marathon training is paying off.
Wear again? Definitely!!
